Dr.Bruckman

Dr.Amy Bruckman is an associate professor in the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She and her students in the Electronic Learning Communities (ELC) research group do research on social computing, particularly for educational applications. She is interested in the ways that we can design online communities to encourage individuals to create and share content online, and learn through that process.

Dr.Kenneth Perry is Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Morehouse College. He is a leader in computer science education for young African American men, and has a unique perspective on the issues that arise in attracting members of this demographic to the field and how to support their success in school and beyond. He has developed interactive educational software for teaching: (Perry & Suarez), “Data Path Rhythms”, ADMI 98; (Perry & Lawson), “The Pipeline Animator”, Frontiers in Education Conference, 1997.

Dr.Guzdial

Dr. Mark Guzdial is a Professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech. He does research on computing education research, and in particular, on how to motivate students to engage in computing. He invented the "Media Computation" approach to learning computing, where students learn programming in order to create and manipulate digital media.

Dr. Charles Meadows is Director of the Center for Teacher Preparation at Morehouse College. He is an expert on designing effective educational interventions within the African American community and on working within the existing educational system.

Betsy

Betsy James DiSalvo is a Ph.D. student at Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Interactive Computing -- As part of Dr. Amy Bruckman’s Electronic Learning Communities Lab. Her research is focuses on leveraging young African American men’s passion for video games into interest in computing.

Markus

Markus Austin is entering his 4th year as a Computer Science undergrad at Georgia Tech. His previous research participation involved creating educational DSP (Digital Signal Processing) learning modules, using the Labview integrated development environment, in order to help students under the collegiate level learn DSP concepts. Markus is also an active member of the TechStyles break dance team at Georgia Tech and is a member of Tau Alpha Omega, a campus ministry club at Tech.

Brian

Brian Webb is a senior Computer Science major at Morehouse College. He is also enrolled in the Dual-Degree Engineering program at Georgia Tech. Brian has always had a strong passion for computing and technology, and has done technical work for the U.S. Department of Energy as well as several other major firms in Washington, D.C. Corey

Corey Steward is a fourth year Computer Science major at Georgia Tech. He is involved in numerous student organizations such as the Minorities at the College of Computing, and has participated in undergraduate research at Georgia Tech for two years. Corey will be travelling to London in September to present a scholastic paper on the GLITCH:GAME TESTERS Project with PhD Student Betsy DiSalvo.

Terris

Terris Johnson is a fourth year Computational Media major at Georgia Tech. With aspirations in graphic design, motion design, and social psychology, he is interested in the ways computing can be used to create rich experiences for users. He has been involved in undergraduate research for four years. Terris is the President of Minorities at the College of Computing and Chief Layout Editor for the College of Computing student magazine The FIREWALL.
